Awapuni school takes zero waste seriously.

Does Awapuni school take zero waste seriously?

I absolutely agree that Awapuni primary school takes zero waste seriously. Here are my three strongest reasons why.

I believe that we are serious about zero waste because for a term we have been researching
the topic and learning about it, so we could look after our environment.
In fact if we let the
plastic and rubbish blow away, it will blow into the ocean and kill the animals, and really they
did
nothing to hurt us so we shouldn’t do anything to hurt them.

Secondly I know we are serious about zero waste because we have a green team that
looks around classrooms and makes sure, that we are placing the correct things
in the correct places, along with if your classroom is the tidiest you will receive the
green team shield for looking after your environment properly. Our green team
is like a group of people that care of the place that their in. Also the green team doesn’t
just look around your classroom they also plant more stuff around Turanganui a kiwa.
It is good that they are planting more trees around this beautiful place because
if there was no trees, there won't be anything to eat carbon dioxide. Further more
trees also give us the oxygen to breath.

Lastly I agree that we are serious about zero waste because some people in
our community wrote a letter to the council saying that we shouldn’t use plastic bags, we should use edible potato starch bags, because the plastic bags are killing our
sea life.

What is Tuparangi?

A whetu that represents everything that grows or live in tree such as, strawberries, lemons, apples and so much more. Growing tasty delicious treats for us to eat.
A cluster of seven stars shining brightly in the night sky. Glistening brightly like the sun.
