Cross Country!! (Race)

OMG!! The time had come, my nerves had kicked and I could feel my butterflies flapping there tiny little wings in my stomach. Mrs Gomm had called the year 6 girls up, we walked along the pathway to the starting line. AS we lined up I looked down the path, I could see my Mum and Dad waiting for me. “Mr Barclay blew the loud whistle and off we went. Sprinting down the I could feel the long green grass tickling my tootsies. “Sharelle had sprinted of and caught a huge lead but that didn’t last for long, the determination and th drive in my mind gave me that little edge to push that much harder. I flew past my parents and circled the powerpost. My second lap was done. Up ahead I caught eye of my friends walking. Catching upto her I gave her a pat on the back and jogged along beside . A few metres up ahead Mr Barclay and Peni was standing by the finish line a gave my last bit pf energy in and sprinted to the finish. I was over the moon that I got first place. A few seconds after that my friends ran into my arms and congratulated me and nothing felt better.

  1. Wow Samara! It sounds like you put lots of effort into the cross country. That's awesome! Do you enjoy running in general, or do you prefer sports where you run, such as rugby? It would be awesome to see an image with your writing - maybe a Google Drawing? I bet you could get really creative using the polyline to create arm and leg angles for running! Congratulations on getting first place! I enjoy running but I'm not very fast and I don't think I've ever won a race! Well done! Does that mean you'll go on to interschool cross-country as an Awapuni representative now?

    1. Hi Miss Williams,
Thank u for your comment. I would prefer sports over running in general just because its alought more fun and interesting. Yes it does mean that but unfortuneatly Cross country was cancelled cause of the weather!!
